On 18 March 2026, the Netherlands holds municipal council elections (gemeenteraadsverkiezingen) in almost every municipality. Polls are open from 07:30 to 21:00. You need your stempas (polling card) and a valid ID. If you are registered in a Dutch municipality and hold Dutch nationality, you are entitled to vote. Expats with EU nationality can also register to vote in local elections. Results are typically known the same evening. A good opportunity to have your say on local housing, transport, and public services.
