Keti Koti marks the abolition of slavery in Suriname and the Dutch Caribbean on 1 July. In Amsterdam, the day begins with the national commemoration in Oosterpark and continues with the public festival on Museumplein, with music, food, traditional dress, and a strong Surinamese and Caribbean presence. It is one of the clearest annual moments when Dutch colonial history becomes visible in public space.
